8. Kitchen Refresh

I don’t have a picture of the old cabinets.

The plan was to brighten up the kitchen.  The original cabinets, drawer fronts and frames were plywood, stained black walnut colour.

Keeping the cost reasonable was a factor.  I refaced the cabinet frames with maple plywood.  The drawer fronts turned out to be solid maple under that dark stain.  I ran them through my thickness planer and took off just enough to give me a virgin maple surface to stain.

The TV shelf, corner shelves, and lower spice rack are all new.  I resurfaced the original dark stained cabinet doors with white plastic laminate.

This project refreshed a 1970’s kitchen and didn’t break the bank.
